In the wake of the recent natural disaster that struck Himachal Pradesh, a delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday met senior Union Ministers in Delhi to brief them on the situation and request necessary assistance from the Central government.

The delegation was led by BJP national president and Union Health and Chemicals Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda and included prominent BJP leaders from the state.

Among those in the delegation were Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, state BJP president Dr Rajeev Bindal, former Union Minister and MP Anurag Thakur, MP and former state president Suresh Kashyap, Dr Rajeev Bhardwaj, actress and Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut, Rajya Sabha MPs Indu Goswami and Dr Sikander Kumar, senior BJP leader Harsh Mahajan, and MLAs Vinod Kumar, Hans Raj and Deep Raj.

Bindal informed that the delegation first met Jagat Prakash Nadda and submitted a detailed proposal regarding the extent of damage in Himachal due to landslides, floods and heavy rains.

Nadda, who had himself visited the Mandi district on July 9 and witnessed the destruction firsthand, assured the delegation of his full support and immediately scheduled meetings with key ministers.

The delegation also met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.

During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on the damage to the national highway network and the urgent need for reconstruction and repair.

Gadkari assured the team that the Centre would extend all possible help for the restoration of roads and infrastructure in the affected areas.

Later, under Nadda’s leadership, the delegation met Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The leaders apprised him of the current situation and the urgent need for financial and logistical support for relief and rehabilitation. Amit Shah assured that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the NDA government stands firmly with Himachal Pradesh and will ensure that no shortage of funds or resources hampers the relief operations.

He also assured the delegation that he would visit Himachal Pradesh personally to take stock of the situation.

The BJP leaders expressed confidence that the Centre would provide prompt and adequate support to help the state recover from this unprecedented crisis.
